Add a realstack test that drives Anthropic-on-Vertex requests (model in
the URL path, no model in the body — the shape Claude Code sends) through
the full synthesized middleware chain against an in-process management
stack and a fake Vertex upstream, reproducing the customer scenario end
to end.
With a guardrail allowlisting only Sonnet, an Opus rawPredict must be
denied by the guardrail (llm_policy.model_blocked) before the upstream,
and Sonnet must be served. Covers two provider shapes:
- catch_all: provider registered with no models (historical Vertex
default) — the router waves every model through, so this is the
direct guard for "the disallowed model is never blocked".
- versioned_models: provider registered with the raw "@version" ids —
the router must normalize the registered id to route the
version-stripped request model while the guardrail still blocks Opus.
A static bearer api key is used so the router injects a static auth
header instead of minting a GCP OAuth token (which needs network egress
and would deny before the guardrail runs, masking the decision under
test). The upstream-hit counter proves a denied request never leaks to
Google.
Extend the agent-network e2e to the Vertex request shapes a customer
actually sends through Claude Code:
- Register the Vertex provider's model under the raw "@version" id the
Google console documents, so the router's candidate normalization is
exercised end to end (previously the provider was created with no
models array, leaving Vertex per-provider matching untested).
- Allowlist the raw "@version" id in the guardrail, so entry
normalization is exercised against version-stripped request models.
- Drive the unversioned model id (…/models/claude-sonnet-4-5:rawPredict)
through the tunnel and require 200 — the customer-reported shape.
- Drive the token-count endpoint (…/models/count-tokens:rawPredict, real
model in the body) via the new harness VertexCountTokens: an
allowlisted body model must serve 200, a disallowed one must deny 403
before the upstream.
Vertex requests reach the router/guardrail with the "@version" suffix
already stripped from the URL model by the request parser, but the
operator-facing config may carry the raw versioned id the Google console
documents (e.g. "claude-opus-4-6@20250514"):
- a Vertex provider registered with versioned model ids denied every
request as model_not_routable (the Vertex analog of the Bedrock gap
fixed in #6773), and
- a guardrail allowlist entry with a versioned id never matched, denying
the model as model_blocked.
Both bit a customer driving Anthropic-on-Vertex through the agent
network with unversioned model ids (…/models/claude-opus-4-6:rawPredict
at the global location).
Introduce a shared llm.NormalizeVertexModel (the same "@" stripping the
parser already does) and apply it to a Vertex route's candidate models in
routeClaimsModel and to guardrail allowlist entries, so either spelling
of the same model matches. Non-Vertex routes and entries without "@"
keep exact matching.
Also resolve the real model for the Vertex token-count endpoint:
…/models/count-tokens:rawPredict carries the literal "count-tokens"
pseudo-model in the URL and the actual model in the body (Claude Code
sends one such call per request), so any configured allowlist denied all
token counting. The parser now reads the body model for that endpoint;
an unreadable body keeps the pseudo-model and fails closed.

With lazy connections enabled, a peer is not dialed until on-demand
traffic arrives, so the first request to a peer resolved by name (e.g.
the agent-network reverse-proxy) races — or loses to — the WireGuard
handshake. Activation was previously reactive only: a data-path packet
or an inbound signal.
This adds a proactive, DNS-time trigger. When the local resolver answers
for an overlay name, it now warms the lazy connection to the peer(s) the
answer points at and waits briefly for one to connect before returning
the response — so by the time the client sends its first packet the
tunnel is already up.
- `dns/local`: new `PeerActivator` capability + `SetPeerActivator`
setter (mirrors the existing `PeerConnectivity`/`SetPeerConnectivity`
injection). `ServeDNS` warms on the pre-filter answer, so activating a
lazily-idle peer also lets it survive the disconnected-peer filter.
Warm-up is scoped to match-only (non-authoritative) zones — the
synthesized private-service zones and user-created zones — so plain
peer-name lookups in the account's authoritative peer zone never wake
idle peers. No-op when no activator is wired (lazy off) or the answer
carries no peer IPs. Budget is `NB_DNS_LAZY_WARMUP_TIMEOUT` (default 2s,
parsed once at construction, invalid values logged); on timeout the
answer is returned anyway (never SERVFAIL).
- The resolver-facing interfaces (`PeerActivator`, `PeerConnectivity`)
take `netip.Addr` instead of string IPs; record addresses are extracted
as `netip.Addr` (v4-mapped forms unmapped) and converted to string only
at the `peer.Status` boundary.
- `SetPeerActivator` is part of the `dns.Server` interface (no-op on the
mock), so the engine wires it without a type assertion.
- `client/internal`: a small engine-side adapter (`dnsPeerActivator`)
resolves answer IPs to peers via `Status.PeerStateByIP`, activates them
through `ConnMgr.ActivatePeer` (HA fan-out included), and polls
`PeerStateByIP` until one is connected. The activation dial is tied to
the engine's long-lived context so a handshake that outlasts the
per-query wait still completes in the background. `ConnMgr.ActivatePeer`
is safe for concurrent use (the lazy manager pointer is guarded by a
dedicated RWMutex and the manager is internally synchronized), so the
DNS path never contends with network-map processing on `syncMsgMux`.
Scope is overlay-only for free: the trigger lives in the local resolver,
which only answers for NetBird-managed names; public/upstream DNS is
unaffected. Already-connected peers short-circuit, so steady-state DNS
latency is unchanged.

the catalog key (`anthropic.claude-haiku-4-5`) before the router runs,

models with exact string equality. So a Bedrock provider registered with
the id Bedrock actually uses (`us.anthropic…`) never matched a
normalized request → the request denied with
`llm_policy.model_not_routable` ("no provider configured for model …").
Only a provider registered with the already-stripped catalog id worked,
which is not how Bedrock ids appear.
Fix: introduce a single shared `llm.NormalizeBedrockModel` (the same
ARN/region-prefix/version-suffix stripping the parser already does) and,
in the router's `routeClaimsModel`, normalize a **Bedrock** route's
candidate models before comparing. Now a Bedrock provider registered
with either the raw inference-profile id or the normalized catalog id
matches the request. Non-Bedrock routes keep exact matching.
Surfaced by the new native-Bedrock e2e (`WireBedrock`,
`/model/{id}/invoke`); the old e2e used the Anthropic body shape, which
never normalized either side and so hid this.
The request parser keeps its own identical normalizer for now;
de-duplicating it onto `llm.NormalizeBedrockModel` is a trivial
follow-up.

for providers whose model travels in the URL/path rather than the JSON
body — most visibly AWS Bedrock (reported in netbirdio/netbird#6751),

`evaluateAllowlist` returned allow whenever the request model was absent
from the metadata bag (`middleware.go`, `if !modelPresent { return nil
}`). The model is stamped upstream by `llm_request_parser`; for
body-routed providers (OpenAI/Anthropic) it comes from the JSON body,
but for path-routed providers the model is recovered only when the
request matches a recognized path shape (Bedrock
`/model/{id}/{invoke|converse|...}`, Vertex
`/v1/projects/.../publishers/.../models/...`). Any shape the parser did
not recognize reached the guardrail with no model and was allowed
regardless of the allowlist.
Fix (provider-agnostic): **fail closed**. When an allowlist is
configured and the model cannot be determined (absent or empty), the
request is denied `403` with a distinct `llm_policy.model_unknown`
reason. This closes the bypass for Bedrock, Vertex, and any future
URL-routed provider in one place. When no allowlist is configured,
behavior is unchanged.
The model allowlist is enforced solely in the proxy `llm_guardrail`;
management's `CheckLLMPolicyLimits` handles only token/budget caps, so
no management change is required.

The OpenAPI field descriptions for `agent_network_only` and `dashboard_features.agent_network` document the requirement. Only the descriptions changed — `required` and the schema `$ref` are untouched — and `types.gen.go` was regenerated from the spec (diff is the two comment lines).

Adds the autostartInitialized marker to the Wails UI preferences store so
the one-time autostart default decision can persist per OS user, and a
UI-only disableAutostart MDM policy key that suppresses the default and
flows into GetConfigResponse.mDMManagedFields like disableAutoConnect.
* [client] Enable launch-on-login by default on fresh GUI installs
On the first interactive run the GUI persists the autostartInitialized
marker before any enable attempt, then enables autostart only when the
platform supports it, MDM policy does not disable it, the process was not
relaunched by an installer/updater (--post-update), and the installer's
fresh-install breadcrumb is present. Upgrading users have no breadcrumb,
so an update can never write login items, and a user's disable in
Settings is never overridden.
* [release] Write fresh-install breadcrumb from installers
Installers write a .fresh-install breadcrumb on fresh installs only and
delete stale breadcrumbs on upgrade; none of them writes login items or
registry Run keys. Windows NSIS detects upgrades via the uninstall
registry entry or an existing installed executable; the macOS pkg via the
previous pkgutil receipt; Linux deb/rpm via the standard postinstall
arguments. Post-update GUI relaunches (macOS open, Linux
ui-post-install.sh) pass --post-update so the first-run autostart default
cannot fire on updates.
* Revert installer breadcrumb changes
The real Windows installer does uninstall-then-install and deletes
$INSTDIR, so a breadcrumb written there cannot survive or discriminate
a fresh install from an upgrade. Restore the three installer files to
their main versions; no installer or updater writes an autostart entry.
* Detect fresh install from NetBird footprint instead of installer breadcrumb
Replace the installer-written breadcrumb discriminator with a GUI-side
check. netbirdFootprintExists inspects the daemon config/state files
(default.json, legacy config.json, state.json) under profilemanager's
default config dir; combined with whether the UI preferences file already
existed, this tells a genuinely fresh machine from an existing or
upgrading user. Only the signed GUI, via Wails, ever enables
launch-on-login, and a user's later manual disable is never overridden.
The preferences store now exposes ExistedAtLoad and the --post-update
flag is dropped.
* Update tests for footprint-based autostart default
Table tests for shouldEnableAutostartDefault now cover supported,
mdmDisabled, and priorInstall guards plus precedence; breadcrumb and
post-update cases are removed. Add a store test asserting ExistedAtLoad
is false with no file and true after persisting and reopening.
* [client] Bring the connection up in Go after SSO login
The post-login Up ran as a frontend promise continuation after WaitSSOLogin
resolved. During SSO the tray window is hidden and the webview is suspended
(macOS App Nap / hidden-window timer throttling), so that continuation didn't
run until the user woke the window (e.g. hovering the tray icon), leaving the
client not connected for a long time. Combine WaitSSOLogin and Up in a single
Go method so the daemon connects the moment SSO completes, independent of
webview state. The frontend no longer issues a separate Up on the SSO path.
* [client] unexport waitSSOLogin and move below exported methods
Introduce a nullable dashboard_features object on account settings, serialized
to a single JSON column so new dashboard sections can be added without schema
changes. Starts with agent_network (show the Agent Network menu for an account
without the deployment flag). Wires the API handler mapping, the pgx GetAccount
loader, and adds store round-trip and handler tests.
Users reported long delays between finishing browser authentication and
the client connecting. Logs could not attribute the time: the PKCE and
device flows were silent between issuing the auth URL and returning the
token, and nothing recorded when the GUI issued the Up request after
WaitSSOLogin completed.
Add log lines covering the full chain: PKCE callback arrival and token
exchange duration, device-flow polling and approval timing, GUI-side
brackets around WaitSSOLogin and Up, daemon-side Up arrival and
WaitSSOLogin return, and a frontend stall detector that reports when
webview timers were suspended (macOS App Nap / hidden-window
throttling), which delays the WaitSSOLogin-to-Up handoff.
SynthesizePrivateServiceZones created CustomZones for private services
without setting SearchDomainDisabled, causing the reverse proxy domain
to be injected as a search domain suffix on all connected peers.
This broke local hostname resolution: short names like 'myserver' were
expanded to 'myserver.app.example.com' (matching the reverse proxy
domain) before local DNS search domains were tried.
Fix: set SearchDomainDisabled: true so the zone is registered as a
match-only supplemental resolver, consistent with the NonAuthoritative
intent already expressed on the same zone.

* routemanager: enforce a single selected exit node
Backport of the exit-node exclusivity reconcile from the 0.75.0 line
(upstream commit 966fbec11) onto v0.74.0. Exit nodes are mutually
exclusive, but the RouteSelector stores routes with default-on semantics,
so every available exit node reported as selected at once.
Reconcile exit-node selection on each network map: keep at most one
selected -- the user's persisted pick, else whatever management marks for
auto-apply (SkipAutoApply=false), else none. Never auto-activate an exit
node the map does not request.
Carries over only the manager/routeselector logic and its test; the
desktop-only client/server changes and the BumpNetworksRevision UI-push
feature from the original commit are intentionally excluded.
* routeselector: make exit-node reconciliation atomic
enforceSingleExitNode took the RouteSelector lock three separate times
(IsDeselectAll, then DeselectRoutes, then SelectRoutes), so a concurrent
DeselectAllRoutes could interleave and be silently undone: SelectRoutes on
its deselectAll branch clears the flag and re-selects the preferred exit
node, overriding the user's "all off".
Move the whole reconciliation into a single locked RouteSelector method
(SetExclusiveExitNode) that checks deselectAll inside the critical section,
so a deselect-all either fully precedes the reconcile (left untouched) or
fully follows it (honoured). No interleaving is possible.
* [iface] Drop redundant device dump in kernel configure()
wgctrl.ConfigureDevice already returns an error when the interface is
missing, so the preceding wg.Device() existence check is redundant. That
check dumps the entire device (all peers) on every configure() call,
making it O(peers) per call and turning bulk peer insertion into
O(peers^2): inserting N peers one by one re-parsed the whole growing peer
list N times. Removing it keeps each peer write constant-time regardless
of how many peers are already configured.
* [iface] Cache WireGuard stats to collapse per-peer device dumps
Each peer runs a WGWatcher that polls GetStats(), and every call dumps
the whole device, so with N peers the watchers perform O(N) full dumps
per poll cycle (O(N^2) work) while each keeps only its own peer's entry.
Wrap the kernel and userspace configurer GetStats() in a short-TTL cache
with singleflight: the staggered per-peer calls share a single device
dump per window and concurrent misses collapse into one dump. The kernel
and userspace WireGuard APIs have no per-peer stats query (a get always
returns the whole device), so a shared cached snapshot avoids the
repeated full dumps.
* Ignore .claude directory
Restore the pre-split native, sudo-based run for the Linux Client / Unit
job: build with the privileged tag and run under sudo, matching the darwin
job. Excludes the dockertest harness (client/testutil/privileged) so it does
not recurse into a container spawn. The Docker privileged job is kept as-is.
With improvements in userspace lazy connection handling, we should be able to enable it for new accounts with less impact on users.
These connections are cheaper and only target traffic that should go through the tunnels, leaving all other tunnels in an idle state.
* [client] Fix race between WG watcher initial handshake read and endpoint config
The watcher's initial handshake read ran in a separate goroutine with no
ordering guarantee relative to the WireGuard endpoint configuration, so it
would sometimes race with the peer being added to the interface. Split
enabling into a synchronous PrepareInitialHandshake, called before the
endpoint is configured, and an EnableWgWatcher that only runs the
monitoring loop, making the baseline read deterministic and keeping it
correct for reconnects where the peer's WireGuard entry survives.
* [client] Skip WG watcher disconnect callback when context is cancelled
A superseded or cancelled watcher whose handshake-check timer fires before
it observes ctx.Done() would still invoke onDisconnectedFn, tearing down a
now-healthy connection. Re-check ctx before firing the disconnect and
handshake-success callbacks and stand down silently if it was cancelled.
* [management,proxy] Add per-provider skip_tls_verification for agent-network
Let agent-network providers opt into skipping upstream TLS verification for
self-hosted / internal gateways behind a private or self-signed cert.
- provider: add SkipTLSVerification (persisted via AutoMigrate) with
request/response mapping (nil on update preserves, explicit false clears).
- openapi: skip_tls_verification on the provider request + response; types
regenerated.
- synthesizer: carry the flag into the llm_router route config so it reaches
the proxy.
- proxy: llm_router sets it on the UpstreamRewrite mutation, and the reverse

Add a self-signed HTTPS upstream (nginx) to the harness and a test that
provisions two providers on that same upstream — one with
skip_tls_verification=true, one false — behind one proxy + client. The
skip=true provider's chat reaches the upstream (200); the skip=false
provider's fails the TLS handshake (5xx). Same upstream, opposite outcome,
which proves the flag is honoured per provider (a single target-level flag
could not, since all of an account's providers share one synthesised
target).
* [e2e] WaitProxyPeer: require >=1 connected peer, not exact 1/1
Each proxy container registers a fresh WireGuard key and its peer is not
removed on teardown, so proxy peers from earlier tests linger in the
account as disconnected. WaitProxyPeer matched the exact string
"1/1 Connected", which failed once a second proxy-using test ran in the
same package (status "1/2"). Parse the "Peers count: X/Y Connected" line
and wait for X>=1 instead: only the live proxy can be connected, and the
caller's subsequent chat is the real end-to-end assertion. Fixes the CI
failure of TestProviderSkipTLSVerification (runs after TestProvidersMatrix).
The suite builds combined/proxy/client from source and drives live
provider traffic, so running it per push/PR is too costly. Switch to a
nightly schedule (03:00 UTC) plus workflow_dispatch, and drop the
now-unneeded fork guard that only mattered for pull_request runs.
The HTTP auth middleware runs syncUserJWTGroups in the request context.
The dashboard SPA routinely aborts in-flight requests on re-render or
navigation, which cancels the request context mid-write and rolls back
the group-sync DB transaction. The error is logged but swallowed, so the
synced groups silently never persist (users.auto_groups stays empty)
while the failing log line repeats on every request.
Detach the sync from the request's cancellation with
context.WithoutCancel so the write can commit regardless of the client
connection; the store already bounds the transaction with its own
timeout. Add a regression test asserting the sync receives a
non-cancelled context even when the originating request is cancelled.
apply() compared several *bool/*int ConfigInput fields against the
Config fields by pointer identity instead of by value, so any
non-nil input always looked "changed" and triggered a spurious log
line plus an unconditional config rewrite even when the value was
unchanged.

"push already running" state and never restarted it.
Give the Engine its own metricsCtx sourced from ConnectClient.ctx,
which outlives engine restarts, so handleMetricsUpdate stops tying the
push to the wrong-scoped context. Additionally make ClientMetrics.push
an atomic.Pointer that the push goroutine clears via CompareAndSwap on
exit, so the tracked state can never drift from the goroutine's actual
lifetime regardless of which context a future caller passes in.

(skips otherwise). The provider must be created with enabled=true explicitly
— the create default is false despite the API doc.

Replace the single-provider chat test with a data-driven matrix that runs
the same scenario through every provider whose credentials are present in
the environment (keys/URLs sourced from ~/.llm-keys locally, Actions
secrets in CI):
- OpenAI (chat), Anthropic (messages), Vercel, OpenRouter, Cloudflare
(OpenAI-compatible gateways), and Bedrock (path-routed, bearer, via the

exercise it rather than a frozen published release. Flip the harness
default: combined/proxy/client are now built from their in-repo

stays available by setting NB_E2E_*_IMAGE to a registry reference.

that calls e.close() whenever err != nil, removing the scattered
per-branch close() calls (including the redundant one in initFirewall).

gets a TODO to adopt Stop() rather than stopping the engine in parallel.

The iOS PKCE login runs in the main-app process, decoupled from the network
extension (the extension's client context is torn down on login-required, which
would otherwise kill the WaitToken goroutine before the OAuth callback arrives).
Because it is decoupled, nothing aborted the flow when the user dismissed the
browser without logging in: WaitToken kept its loopback HTTP server bound to the
redirect port until the flow expired, so the next connect stalled trying to bind
the same port.
Make the Auth context cancellable and add Auth.Stop(), which cancels it. Cancelling
unblocks WaitToken, whose deferred server.Shutdown frees the port immediately. This
mirrors how Android's stopEngine() aborts login via the engine context.
NewAuthWithConfig now also derives a cancellable context; its only iOS caller uses
LoginSync (no interactive server), so behaviour is unchanged there.

that goroutine without holding the lock, racing the next OnNewPrefixes write.
On exit-node disable the core removes the default routes as two separate
prefix updates (0.0.0.0/0, then the synthesized ::/0). When the two
goroutines were reordered, the stale snapshot still containing ::/0 was
delivered last and clobbered the correct default-free one. iOS then kept the
::/0 default route on the tunnel with no exit node to carry it, black-holing
all IPv6 traffic while IPv4 recovered correctly.
Fix: deliver updates through a single worker goroutine fed by a buffered
channel, preserving production order, and snapshot the joined prefix string
under the mutex so it can't race a concurrent update. Buffered so producers
(which run under the route manager lock) don't block on the listener callback.

recorder. Unlike IsLoginRequired(), which creates a fresh auth client and
performs a blocking network call, IsLoginRequiredCached() reports whether the
LAST observed management error was an auth failure (PermissionDenied/
InvalidArgument).
This lets the iOS connection listener detect a mid-session token expiry from
within onDisconnected during teardown without blocking on a slow or
unavailable network.

Add a DebugBundle() entry point to the iOS Go client that generates a

a running engine: when the engine is up it reuses the live config, sync
response and client metrics; otherwise it loads the config from disk (or
the preloaded tvOS config). Guard the live config/ConnectClient behind a
state mutex since DebugBundle may run on a different thread.

was never set. Management-triggered (jobs) debug bundles read the log path
from the engine config, so they collected no client logs (client.log,

c.logFilePath directly to the bundle generator.
Thread c.logFilePath through RunOniOS into the engine config so remote
bundles include the client logs too.

When a client deselects an IPv4 exit node, the auto-generated IPv6 default
route (::/0) was still selected and pushed onto the tunnel interface, even
though the user disabled the exit node. On an exit node without a real IPv6
egress this blackholes IPv6 traffic, and because clients prefer IPv6 (happy
eyeballs) it can break general connectivity.
Root cause: the synthesized v6 route gets a different NetID than its v4 base
(base + "-v6"). The route selector keys deselects by NetID and defaults
unknown NetIDs to selected, so the "-v6" entry was never matched by the v4
deselect. The effectiveNetID() mirror that solves exactly this is used by
HasUserSelectionForRoute and FilterSelectedExitNodes, but categorizeUserSelection
called the raw IsSelected(), bypassing it and mis-categorizing the v6 pair as
user-selected.
Add RouteSelector.IsSelectedForExitNode(), which applies effectiveNetID before
the selection check, and use it in categorizeUserSelection. IsSelected() is left
untouched so non-exit code paths don't make unrelated "*-v6" routes inherit v4
state. Adds regression tests for the v4/v6 deselect mirror and explicit-v6
override.

Temporary diagnostics to find why a deselected v4 exit node's synthesized
::/0 route still reaches the tunnel. Logs the full install path: incoming

Root cause of the leaking ::/0 route, confirmed from client logs: the
synthesized "-v6" exit route could stay explicitly selected in the persisted
route-selector state while its v4 base was deselected (selected=[...-v6],
deselected=[...v4base]). Because the v6 entry then has its own explicit state,
effectiveNetID stops mirroring the v4 base, so FilterSelectedExitNodes keeps
::/0 and it is installed on the tunnel even though the user disabled the exit
node. This happened because the iOS SDK's deselect only pairs the "-v6" sibling
via ExpandV6ExitPairs when the v6 route is present in the current routesMap; a
deselect at a moment it wasn't expanded left the v6 selection orphaned.
Fix at the selector write path so it is independent of routesMap timing: when a
v4 exit NetID is selected or deselected, clear any orphaned explicit state on
its "-v6" sibling (clearPairedV6Locked), unless the sibling is part of the same
batch (the deliberate ExpandV6ExitPairs case). The v6 then falls back to
inheriting the v4 base via effectiveNetID, so a v4 deselect also drops ::/0 and
a v4 select brings both back.
Adds regression tests: a stale explicit v6 selection is cleared by a later v4
deselect, and an explicit v6 select made in the same batch is preserved.
* [ios] compute route connection status in the bridge
The iOS bridge exposed a route's Network as a possibly comma-joined string
("0.0.0.0/0, ::/0" for a merged exit node) but no connection status, forcing
the UI to infer status by string-matching that joined value against peer
routes — which never matched for the merged exit node, leaving it stuck as
not-connected. Android already computes status in the core (findBestRoutePeer).
Mirror that here: add a Status field to RoutesSelectionInfo and compute it from
the connected peers' route tables, matching the route's primary prefix, a merged
exit node's extra v6 prefix, or a dynamic route's domain pattern (the key the
route manager records). The UI can now read the status directly.

Drop the temporary DIAG diagnostics added to trace the leaking ::/0 route
(the root cause is fixed and confirmed). Also reorganize routeselector.go so

orphan cleanup on every toggle. That machinery still missed the case observed
in the field: a persisted state with the v4 base deselected but its "-v6"
sibling explicitly selected (orphaned). Because effectiveNetID returns the v6
entry itself once it carries explicit state, and clearPairedV6Locked only fires
on a live toggle, the loaded orphan survived and the ::/0 route leaked onto the
tunnel despite the exit node being disabled, breaking IPv6 (happy eyeballs).
Treat the v4/v6 exit pair as a single toggle and keep state consistent at write
time instead. RouteSelector.SyncPairedSelection forces the "-v6" entry to match
its v4 base unconditionally, resetting any orphaned explicit state. The route
manager, which knows the route prefixes, computes the pairs (V6ExitMergeSet) and
calls it from updateRouteSelectorFromManagement before selection is read, so both
collectExitNodeInfo and FilterSelectedExitNodes see consistent state, including
pairs loaded from persisted selector state.
This removes effectiveNetID, IsSelectedForExitNode and clearPairedV6Locked; the
selector is literal again and no longer needs the "exit-node paths only" caveat.
HasUserSelectionForRoute and applyExitNodeFilter use the raw NetID.
Adds a selector test for SyncPairedSelection (including the orphaned-v6 case) and
a route-manager test reproducing the persisted-orphan scenario from the field log.

When JWT group sync is enabled with a restrictive JWTAllowGroups list, the local owner of an embedded-IdP (Dex) deployment can get locked out. The allow-groups check runs account-wide but local password users do not receive
external IdP group claims, so they can't satisfy the allowed list.
This skips JWT group evaluation for local Dex users so the restriction and JWT group sync continue to apply to external-IdP users as intended.

The latest Management sync response (which carries the network map) was
kept in memory for debug bundle generation. On memory-constrained
platforms like iOS the network map can be large enough to matter.
Introduce a syncstore package with a Store interface and two backends:
a memory backend (the previous behavior) and a disk backend that
serializes the response to a file in the state directory. The backend
is selected per-platform at build time: disk on iOS, memory elsewhere.
The disk store clears any leftover file on construction so a fresh
store never reads stale data from an earlier run (e.g. another
profile's network map).
In the engine, drop the separate persistSyncResponse bool: the store is
only instantiated while persistence is enabled, and its presence is
what marks persistence as active. The store is also cleared on engine
close so the file does not linger on disk.
* syncstore: silence nilnil linter on "nothing stored" returns
Get returns (nil, nil) to signal that nothing is stored, which is part
of the Store contract and preserves the original behaviour. Annotate
both backends with //nolint:nilnil so golangci-lint does not flag it.

Both handleSync and GetLatestSyncResponse snapshotted e.syncStore under

leak/lingering protection.

semantics inherited from peerSupportedFirewallFeatures, but
NetbirdVersion() never produces those values — only the literal
"development" (and now "development-<sha>[-dirty]") ever flows
through the wire. The agent owns the semantics of an ephemeral
development build, so the tests should exercise the strings we
actually emit.
Replaced with development, development-<sha> and
development-<sha>-dirty cases that match the HasPrefix("development")
predicate introduced upstream.

TunnelLookupFromContext(r.Context()) being present — that context value
is attached only by the per-account inbound (overlay) listener, so the
host-facing listener never enters this branch.
Tests updated to reflect the new requirement: requests that don't
carry the inbound marker now fall through to the regular auth flow.

Three correctness fixes on the per-account inbound path, with tests:
- Close the logrus ErrorLog PipeWriter on tearDown. WriterLevel hands
back an *io.PipeWriter backed by a pipe + scanner goroutine that the
caller owns; the two writers per account (https + plain) were never
closed, leaking the pipe and goroutine on every teardown.
- Run the post-Start hooks on context.Background(). runClientStartup
is launched in a goroutine from AddPeer and was inheriting the

tail is split into notifyClientReady so the contract is testable.
Tests cover the PipeWriter close behaviour and assert the readyHandler
+ NotifyStatus calls receive a non-cancelled background context.
* feat(proxy): short-circuit peer-own-target loops with 421
When a peer that hosts the target of a private service dials its own
service URL the request was being looped through the proxy and back
over WireGuard to the same peer — twice the WG round-trip for no
benefit, with no signal to the caller that something was wrong.
Add isSelfTargetLoop to ReverseProxy.ServeHTTP: when the request
arrived on the per-account overlay listener (IsOverlayOrigin) and the
source tunnel IP matches the target host, refuse the request with 421
Misdirected Request and a body pointing the operator at the backend
directly.
The gate is scoped to overlay origin so requests on the public
listener that happen to share a source IP with the target host are
forwarded normally.
* fix(management): private-service validation + tunnel-IP lookup semantics
- Require an explicit port for L4 cluster targets. validateL4Target
exempted TargetTypeCluster from the port check, but buildPathMappings
serializes every L4 target via net.JoinHostPort(host, port) — port=0
shipped a ":0" upstream. Cluster targets use the same Host/Port
fields, so the same requirement applies.
- GetPeerByIP returns NotFound on a tunnel-IP miss instead of mapping
every error to Internal. The proxy's ValidateTunnelPeer probes IPs
that legitimately aren't in the roster; the miss is expected and now
distinguishable from a real store failure.
- Thread ctx into getClusterCapability's gorm query so a cancelled
request doesn't keep the store busy.
Tests updated for the L4-cluster port requirement and the GetPeerByIP
NotFound path.
* fix(client): include offlinePeers in PeerStateByIP lookup
ReplaceOfflinePeers moves peers into d.offlinePeers but PeerStateByIP
only scanned d.peers. Callers (the local DNS filter via
localPeerConnectivity, embed.Client.IdentityForIP used by the
proxy's tunnel-peer validator) were treating known-but-offline peers
as unknown, which:
- causes the DNS filter to keep returning records pointing at peers
that have no live tunnel, AND
- makes the proxy's local-roster check deny a request from such a
peer rather than letting the cached management RPC carry the
authorisation decision.
Search both slices in PeerStateByIP. Adds a unit test for the IPv4
and IPv6 offline-match paths.
* fix(rest): reject empty Delete path params in reverse-proxy clients
ReverseProxyClustersAPI.Delete and ReverseProxyTokensAPI.Delete passed
the path parameter into url.PathEscape without an empty check.
PathEscape("") returns "" which collapses the request onto the
collection endpoint ("/api/reverse-proxies/clusters/" /
"/api/reverse-proxies/proxy-tokens/"), so a caller bug delete with no
id reached a routable URL with surprising semantics (typically 405).
Short-circuit with a typed error before the request is built. Tests
mount a handler on the collection path that fails the test if hit, so
the regression is impossible to reintroduce silently.
* chore(api,ci,docs,test): private-service schema, proto-check, fixups
Non-functional cleanups and contract/CI hardening around the
private-service work:
API schema (openapi.yml):
- Require a non-empty access_groups and mode=http when private=true,
on both Service and ServiceRequest, mirroring
validatePrivateRequirements. mode stays optional-but-constrained
(empty defaults to http server-side), matching runtime.
CI (proto-version-check.yml):
- Cover renamed .pb.go files (read base via previous_filename).
- Match protoc-gen-go-grpc version headers (optional "- " prefix and
-gen-go-grpc suffix) so grpc-generated files are in scope.
Docs / comments:
- Reword Config field docs to say defaults are applied at Server.Start
(initDefaults), not New.
- Rename the obsolete --private-inbound flag to --private across
comments and the proto doc.
Pre-existing test fixups surfaced by review:
- Repair the integration-tagged validate_session_test.go (SignToken
signature growth + new Manager interface methods).
- Fix the CI-skip boolean precedence so Windows isn't skipped
unconditionally.
- Guard the router.HTTPListener type assertion with comma-ok.
* fix(proxy): background ctx for already-started AddPeer notification
The earlier ctx fix covered the async runClientStartup path but missed
the synchronous branch: when a service is added to an already-started
client, AddPeer called NotifyStatus with the caller's request-scoped
ctx. A cancelled request/stream could drop the connected notification
to management. Use context.Background() here too, matching
notifyClientReady.
Extends TestNetBird_AddPeer_ExistingStartedClient_NotifiesStatus to
pass a pre-cancelled caller ctx and assert the notification still ran
on a non-cancelled context.

Adds the management-server half of the SSO session-extension feature:
- New ExtendAuthSession gRPC RPC that refreshes a peer's session expiry
using a fresh JWT, validated through the same pipeline as Login but
without tearing down the tunnel or redoing the NetworkMap sync.
- Per-peer SessionExpiresAt timestamp on every LoginResponse and
SyncResponse so connected clients learn the deadline on the existing
long-lived stream, and admin-side changes (toggling expiration,
changing the expiration window) reach every peer within seconds.
- SessionExpiresAt(...) helper on Peer that derives the absolute UTC
deadline from LastLogin + the account-level PeerLoginExpiration
setting, returning zero when the peer is not SSO-tracked or expiration
is disabled.
The matching client-side consumer of these fields lands separately.

Previously the `sessionExpiresAt` field on LoginResponse, SyncResponse
and ExtendAuthSessionResponse was 2-state: a valid timestamp meant
"new deadline", and nil meant "clear". That conflated two distinct
meanings — "no info in this snapshot" vs "expiry is explicitly off /
peer is not SSO-tracked" — so a Sync push that legitimately couldn't
compute the deadline (settings lookup failed) would silently clear the
client's anchor and lose the warning window.
Three states now, encoded on the same field number (no .proto schema
churn — only comments and the server-side encoder change):
- nil pointer (field absent) → "no info"; client preserves anchor
- &Timestamp{} (seconds=0, nanos=0) → explicit "disabled / not SSO"
sentinel; client clears
- valid timestamp → new absolute UTC deadline
A new encodeSessionExpiresAt helper centralises the zero/non-zero
encoding and is shared by the Sync, Login and ExtendAuthSession
builders. The Sync builder still emits nil when settings are missing.
Login and ExtendAuthSession always carry an authoritative value.
The matching client-side decoder lands on feature/session-extend.

Adds a new "private" service mode for the reverse proxy: services reachable exclusively over the embedded WireGuard tunnel, gated by per-peer group membership instead of operator auth schemes.
