Maycon Santos 6aaeed744e [management] Check a provider's url and credential before saving it (#7301)
A bad upstream or key saved cleanly and surfaced minutes later as a failed
request or an empty model picker, with nothing pointing back at the record.

CreateProvider now spends the credential once against the vendor's model
listing. UpdateProvider does the same when the upstream, the key, the catalog
provider or the skip-TLS flag changed — only then, so renames and price edits
neither wait on a vendor nor fail because one is down. Both run before the store
write, so a rejected rotation leaves the working key where it was.

What cannot be checked still saves: no listing endpoint, no derivable Bedrock
control-plane host, a private upstream, a record skipping TLS verification.
Everything else blocks, outages included — 5xx, 429 and timeouts leave the
record unverified just as a refusal does. Refusals return 422 and carry no
status code or echoed URL.

Discovery now reads as a partial edit, so a retyped URL can be listed against
without also rotating the credential. Entries with their own listing host
(Bedrock) get their configured upstream resolved separately, since a successful
listing said nothing about it.

Maycon Santos 26e5495e5d [management,proxy] Serve guardrail allowlists of declared model ids (#7389)
After #7221, guardrail allowlists built from a path-style provider's declared
model ids (Bedrock, Vertex) stopped working: the raw region/version form was
compared against the parser's canonical id, so the agent config advertised an
empty model list and requests for the allowlisted model were refused.

Make every allowlist compare provider-aware, keyed on the destination
provider's catalog id: the agent config, the policy gate, and the synthesized
proxy allowlists match an entry on both its verbatim and canonical form —
Bedrock's strip only under bedrock_api, Vertex's only under vertex_ai_api,
verbatim everywhere else, so a plain provider's suffixed entries never widen.
The router's claim compare learns the Vertex @version strip.

New e2e, realstore, and unit tests reproduce both regressions and pin the fix.

* [client] Add tests for the ICEBind open and close races

Running many embedded clients in one process intermittently wedges interface
creation. A goroutine dump taken from 50 clients shows ten of them parked for
seven minutes in Device.IpcSet, in closeBindLocked waiting on
device.net.stopping.Wait, holding device.net while every other device
goroutine queues behind it on Device.Up.

Open writes s.closed and Close reads it with no synchronisation, and Close
also closes s.closedChan without the mutex that Open swaps it under. Two
Closes can both pass the check and close the same channel, and a Close racing
an Open can mark the bind closed while a live channel and live receive
functions remain, after which every later Close takes its early return and
runs neither close(closedChan) nor StdNetBind.Close. The receive functions
never stop, so stopping.Wait never returns.

These tests do not fix that. The first pins the contract closeBindLocked
depends on and passes today. The other two fail under -race, reporting the
races at the three sites above, and pass again once closed and closedChan are
guarded consistently.

* [client] Release parked receivers so reopening a bind cannot stall

receiveRelayed held closedChanMu for the whole of its blocking select, so a
parked receiver kept the read lock indefinitely and Open could never take the
write lock it needs to install a fresh closedChan. wireguard-go reaches Open
from Device.IpcSet and Device.Up with device.net held, so the stall took the
device lock with it: interface creation never finished, every other device
goroutine queued behind Device.Up, and Engine.Start never returned.

Callers now copy the channel under a short read lock and select on the copy.
Copying alone would stand a new trap in the same place, because an Open that
follows an Open leaves the previous generation parked on a channel no later
Close can reach, so Open now closes the outgoing channel before swapping it.

closed and closedChan are also updated together under that mutex. Read and
written apart, Close could see a stale closed and skip both close(closedChan)
and StdNetBind.Close, leaving every receive function running and wedging
closeBindLocked on device.net.stopping.Wait, or two Close calls could pass the
check together and close the same channel twice.

TestICEBindOpenDoesNotBlockOnParkedReceiver fails without this change, without
needing the race detector. The other three cover the surrounding contract and
report the state races under -race.

* [client] Make the bind lifecycle transition atomic and tighten its tests

Review caught that the previous commit moved the torn transition rather than
removing it. Open published the new generation before calling StdNetBind.Open,
so an Open rejected because the bind was already open had already signalled the
outgoing generation, and a Close arriving in that window could mark the bind
closed while the same call went on to install live sockets. Every later Close
then returned early and never shut them down.

Open now calls StdNetBind.Open first, so a failure leaves the current
generation untouched, and both Open and Close hold the lock across the whole
transition. Ordering is safe: StdNetBind.Open reaches muUDPMux through
createReceiverFn, and no path takes muUDPMux before closedChanMu.

The tests were also weaker than they read. The stress test claimed to cover a
stale channel but only ever raced two Closes, and the concurrency test left
overlap to goroutine start order. Both now gate their goroutines on a common
start, the stress test races an Open against the Closes, and both assert the
surviving generation channel is actually closed. Waiting on receive functions
to be entered replaces part of the sleep in the reopen probe, and teardown
bounds its Close so a regression fails the assertion instead of hanging.

Two of the four now fail without the fix and no race detector, the stress test
by reproducing close of a closed channel at the Close early return.

* [client] Fail the reopen probe when its teardown does not complete

closeBounded swallowed its timeout and the cleanup discarded what
receiversStopped returned, so the bounds added in the previous commit only
stopped teardown hanging. A wedged Close or a parked receiver would have left
the test green with a leaked goroutine, which is the failure this test exists
to catch.

closeBounded now reports whether Close returned, and cleanup fails the test on
either bound.

Maycon Santos ebc259e30b [management,client] Gate remote jobs behind an admin opt-in with MDM support (#7153)
This introduces a disabled-by-default allow-remote-jobs setting that
controls whether the management server may run jobs (such as debug
bundles) on a peer. The flag propagates end to end: through client
configuration, the daemon SetConfig and Login requests, authentication,
and system info, up to management, where it is stored on the peer and
exposed on the peers API as remote_jobs_allowed. The client refuses any
management-requested job unless the peer has opted in. Because enabling
remote jobs crosses the user-to-root boundary, turning it on requires
privilege, mirroring the SSH-server gate. Administrators can enforce the
setting through MDM policy on both macOS and Windows, and MDM can also
override the debug-bundle upload URL. The change ships policy
documentation and generated profile templates, and adds configuration,
conflict, and enforcement tests covering the opt-in, privilege, and MDM
paths.

Maycon Santos 3027130f0f [management] Add Agent Network access roles and self-service endpoints (#7221)
Delegating Agent Network today means handing out full account admin, and
regular users cannot see their own usage or how to connect a local tool.

Add two roles on top of the existing agent_network permission
submodules. agent_network_admin owns the whole area (providers,
policies, guardrails, budgets, usage, logs, settings) with read-only
users, groups, peers, and account info needed to build policies, and
nothing else in the account. usage_viewer is the regular User baseline
plus read on the aggregated usage and cost overview: no provider
configuration, no policies, no request-level logs, which can contain
captured prompts. billing_admin gets a proper permission-map entry with
the User baseline so role resolution stops failing with role-not-found;
its plan and invoice permissions stay enforced cloud-side.

Add the self-service endpoints behind the "My Agent Network" view,
available to every authenticated user because both answers are scoped
strictly to the caller. GET /api/agent-network/me/setup returns the
account endpoint plus the providers and models the caller's own groups
authorize, computed with the same rules the proxy enforces: policy
filtering as in policy selection, model allowlist union intersected
with declared models, orphan and disabled providers omitted. Not set up
and no access are deliberately indistinguishable, and the response
carries display metadata only. GET /api/agent-network/me/consumption
returns the caller's own user-dimension counters.

Maycon Santos 1081ca006d [management,client] Add anonymize level and upload URL to remote debug bundle jobs (#7147)
This extends the management-requested remote debug-bundle job with two
new, optional parameters. anonymize_level selects how aggressively the
bundle is scrubbed: "default" keeps internal (private) IP ranges
readable, while "strict" also anonymizes private, CGNAT and link-local
addresses; the value is trimmed and lowercased, and an unknown level is
rejected at creation. upload_url lets an operator point the peer at a
specific upload service instead of the default one; it must be a
well-formed https URL with a host, and an empty value falls back to the
default upload server. Both fields flow through the job workload API and
are surfaced in the create-debug-job modal on the dashboard. Validation
is shared so the client executor and the management boundary agree on
what a valid upload URL is, preventing drift between the two checks.

Start returns before the first sync response necessarily arrives, so the
disabled case could pass against a client that had simply not synced yet.
Wait for the engine to apply a sync, then require the persistence error
rather than any error, so a not-started engine no longer satisfies it.

Also document that PeerState is a read-only snapshot which shares its mutex
and route map with the recorder.

mlsmaycon 5abeda0df7 [client] Add embed knobs for running many clients in one process
Running several embedded clients in one process is already how the proxy
works, and both of the costs below scale with the number of clients.

Every engine retains its latest management sync response so that
GetLatestSyncResponse can read it back. Retaining it pins a decoded copy of
the whole network map for the lifetime of the client, roughly 680 KB per
client against a 2000 peer network map. A process holding many clients that
never read the response back pays that for nothing, so
DisableSyncResponsePersistence lets a caller opt out. Persistence stays on
by default.

Status runs health probes against every STUN and TURN server and takes the
engine lock, which is too expensive to poll at high frequency or across many
clients. StatusSnapshot returns the same recorder state without the probes.

Reading that state from another module also needs the peer status constants
and the per-peer state type, which were only partly exported.

A Bedrock provider could never answer a model-discovery request. The router
sent GET /inference-profiles to the record's upstream, which has to be
bedrock-runtime.<region> for InvokeModel to work, and that host does not
implement the operation. ListInferenceProfiles is a control-plane operation on
bedrock.<region>.amazonaws.com, and one provider record carries one upstream,
so the two hosts genuinely differ.

The route now carries a discovery host, taken from the catalog's declaration
with the region read back out of the configured upstream, and the listing — and
only the listing — goes there. Inference is untouched. A proxied or self-hosted
Bedrock endpoint gets no discovery host at all rather than a guessed one, since
inventing a host would send the operator's credential somewhere they never
configured.

Two things had to follow for the listing to be usable once it arrives. The
response filter only understood OpenAI's {"data":[{"id":…}]}, so a Bedrock
listing fell through it untouched, offering every profile in the account
whatever the policy said. And discoverableModels intersected by exact string,
so a record registering the raw profile id while a guardrail names the catalog
key intersected to nothing — bounding a working provider's listing down to
empty.

Normalisation is the third. The geography in front of a cross-region profile
was matched against a hardcoded list of four, so every profile issued under jp,
au, ca, sa or us-gov carried its prefix into the pricing key, matched no
catalog entry and metered at zero. It is now recognised by either the geography
or the vendor that follows it, so an id has to be new on both axes at once to
slip through — a live eu-central-1 listing returned "global.xai.grok-4.6" days
after the vendor list was first written.

Adds POST /api/agent-network/catalog/providers/models, which asks a vendor
which models an operator's own credential can actually reach, so the provider
form can offer a live list instead of only the compiled-in catalog. The catalog
goes stale, and it cannot see an account: which OpenAI models an org is
entitled to, which Bedrock inference profiles an account and region hold, which
Vertex models a project has enabled.

The endpoints, auth headers and response shapes come from probing the live APIs
(#7244); each vendor invented its own envelope and none can be guessed from the
request. Bedrock shaped the design: its listing lives on the control plane
while inference must go to the runtime host, so Discovery carries its own host
rather than reusing the record's upstream, and profile ids are taken verbatim
because the region prefix is what AWS requires at invoke time.

A caller supplies either the key they are typing or the id of a saved record
whose stored credential is reused — never both, since accepting both would run
an arbitrary credential under the identity of a record the caller may only be
permitted to read. Gated on Create rather than Read, because this spends the
operator's credential against a third party.

Management has not made outbound calls on an operator's behalf before and it
holds a credential for every provider, so every resolved address must be public
— covering loopback, RFC1918, the cloud metadata address and NetBird's own
100.64/10 range — and redirects are not followed, since a redirect moves the
request to a host the check never saw.

The vendor is authoritative for the id; the catalog stays authoritative for
pricing. A discovered model the shipped table cannot price returns
pricing_known: false so the operator must set rates rather than being
registered at a silent zero.

GET /v1/models was bounded by the provider record's enumerated models, which is
the right bound only while a single policy reaches a provider. Where two teams
share one provider under different allowlists, every caller was offered the
union — each model outside their own policy being a request the guardrail
refuses a moment later. A gateway record enumerating nothing was worse: it
offered the upstream's entire catalogue however narrow the policy was.

Each route now carries one rule per authorising policy — its source groups and
the models it permits — instead of a single flattened list. At request time the
router keeps the rules whose groups intersect the caller's, unions their
models, and intersects that with what the provider serves.

nil and [] stay distinct end to end: a policy setting no allowlist reaches the
router as nil and lifts the restriction for the groups it binds, while an
enabled allowlist with no models arrives as [] and permits nothing. Collapsing
them would let a listing that should offer nothing fall open to everything.

The guardrail's own per-provider allowlist is untouched. It is a fail-closed
backstop that cannot tell who is asking, so discovery is now narrower than the
backstop rather than wider.

Reviewed the proxy against Claude Code's published gateway contract. The
transport layer already held up; fourteen gaps sat one layer up, in the model
catalog and in the non-inference endpoints clients call.

Two of them cost money. The catalog carried no claude-opus-5 or
claude-sonnet-5, so an operator could not authorise the models coding agents
default to — those requests denied as not-routable, or priced at zero where a
catch-all carried them. And gateway records pin ParserID "openai" while the
same record serves /v1/messages, so Anthropic responses were read with the
OpenAI parser, which never looks at message_start where input tokens live:
input metered as roughly zero on every stream and cost was skipped entirely.

The rest fix requests refused for structural rather than policy reasons: model
discovery denied for every account with a model allowlist, token counting
denied on Bedrock and mis-parsed on Vertex, startup probes refused and written
into the access log at every session start, and denials rendered in a shape no
LLM client parses. Two changes are additive by design — the deny body keeps
every field it had and adds the vendor's error object alongside, and body-level
identity injection is now gated on the request's dialect so it stops sending
OpenAI-shape fields into Anthropic bodies that reject them.

The end-to-end work turned up one more: the discovery filter treated any slash
in a model id as a gateway prefix, which would have dropped every self-hosted
"Qwen/..." model from the picker.

The previous commit's CI run confirmed the failure on a comment-only diff
off main, so the cause is not any branch's changes:

    Android / Build   failure
    iOS / Build       failure

`gomobile init` re-installs gobind from x/mobile@latest whatever gomobile is
pinned to, and setup-go sets GOTOOLCHAIN=local, so the install dies the
moment @latest declares a newer Go than go.mod does:

    gomobile: go install golang.org/x/mobile/cmd/gobind@latest failed: exit status 1
    go: golang.org/x/mobile@v0.0.0-20260821190718-4776eadac327
       requires go >= 1.26.0 (running go 1.25.12; GOTOOLCHAIN=local)

GOTOOLCHAIN=auto on that step alone lets the install fetch what it asks for.
Scoped to the step deliberately: the repo's Go version and every build below
it stay on go.mod's toolchain, so this buys the mobile jobs nothing except
the ability to run gobind.

Pinning gobind next to gomobile does not work — init re-installs @latest
regardless. A durable fix is to stop `init` reaching the network at all, or
to track x/mobile's Go requirement in go.mod; both are larger changes than a
red CI warrants right now.

Maycon Santos 77e5ac776b [infrastructure] Let a suite outside this repo use the e2e harness (#7176)
e2e/harness documents itself as feature-agnostic, but three details
assumed the caller lives in this repo, so the terraform provider's
acceptance suite would otherwise carry a second harness for the same
product.

repoRoot took the first module root above the working directory as the
Docker build context, which from another module is the caller's own
root, with no combined/Dockerfile.multistage in it. It now requires that
ancestor to be this module, and otherwise asks the go tool for the
source: for a dependent, the extracted directory of the version it pins,
so the server matches the client library it was compiled against. That
lookup uses -mod=readonly, since automatic vendor mode otherwise reports
an empty Dir.

Geolocation was disabled unconditionally. Agent-network ingest does not
use it, but location-based posture checks need the database, and a rule
management cannot evaluate fails rather than passing.
StartClient pinned one network alias and set no hostname, so a second
agent could not start and a peer's name was arbitrary. Management
records that hostname, making it the peer's name in the API.
The client entrypoint is copied with an explicit mode: git tracks it
100755, but the module cache extracts 0444, so a dependent's build
produced a container exiting with "permission denied".

Adds CombinedOption, WithGeolocation, WithServerEnv, ClientOption and
WithClientName.

- Align default names and reuse same environment variables

- With the uploads now targeting the same stable/yum paths as the GTK4
packages, two packages named netbird-ui with the same version and arch
would collide in the repo indexes. Give the GTK3 variant its own
package name and mark the two as conflicting alternatives.

Maycon Santos f805c149d9 [management] Record reverse proxy usage for activity accounting (#7116)
People who only ever reach private services through the reverse proxy were
invisible to activity accounting. Active users are counted from user.LastLogin
or from the LastSeen of a peer they own, and neither column was written on the
proxy paths — so a person signing in via SSO to a proxied service, or a peer
serving one over the mesh, never showed up in the 24 hour numbers.
Both writes now happen where the proxy already authenticates:
- GenerateSessionToken stamps LastLogin after the session token is signed,
  the same column and the same way the dashboard and device login paths do.
- ValidateTunnelPeer stamps the calling peer's LastSeen, the column its owner
  activates through.
The policy lives in a new reverseproxy/activity manager rather than in the gRPC
service, matching the module layout the other reverse proxy domains use. It
skips what can never count — service users, embedded proxy peers and WASM
clients — and throttles peer writes to once an hour, well inside the window
accounting asks about and far above the proxy's five minute tunnel cache.
The peer write is a single indexed UPDATE that touches only
peer_status_last_seen. Connected and SessionStartedAt are left alone so the
session-ownership fencing MarkPeerConnectedIfNewerSession relies on is never
disturbed, and the timestamp comes from the database clock rather than the
caller, for the same reason the other status writers take it from there. The
caller's cutoff travels into the statement's WHERE, so concurrent requests for
one peer collapse into a single write instead of each acting on its own stale
read, and a peer that was never seen — NULL last seen, since Status is an
embedded pointer — still records its first activity.
Nothing outside the reverse proxy changes behaviour: the only addition
elsewhere is the RefreshPeerLastSeen store method the manager calls.

Maycon Santos f65f7b347e [management] Deny reverse proxy access to pending and blocked users (#7105)
A user in the Pending Approval state could complete SSO and reach any
SSO-protected reverse proxy service distributed to a group they belong
to, including the All Users group. The reverse proxy authorization path
checked the session token signature, that the user exists, that the
user's account matches the service's account, and group membership —
never the user's account status. The REST API (`permissions/manager.go`)
and peer registration both gate on that state, but the proxy gRPC
service does not go through the permissions manager, so neither gate
applied. A pending user is persisted as blocked and pending approval, so
blocked users reached those services the same way.

`ValidateSession` now denies on account status, reporting
`pending_approval` or `user_blocked` so the proxy access log and the
denied page carry the cause rather than a generic refusal.
`GenerateSessionToken` refuses to mint a token for such a user at all,
so the browser never receives a session cookie and the OIDC callback can
tell the user why instead of showing "Service configuration error".
`ValidateUserGroupAccess` and `ValidateTunnelPeer` close the same gap;
for the tunnel path this covers a user blocked after their peer was
registered, since peer group membership alone kept mesh-origin access
open.

A single helper produces both the denied reason for the RPC responses
and the sentinel error for the error-returning callers, so the four
entry points cannot drift apart. A user the store cannot resolve is
denied rather than passed through.

One thing deliberately left out: session cookies are validated locally
by the proxy against the service public key with no management
round-trip, so a cookie issued before a user is blocked stays valid
until it expires (24h by default). That is a revocation-propagation
problem rather than this authorization gap, and every option for it
(per-request validation with a cache, short-lived tokens with refresh,
push-based revocation) changes the proxy hot path or the
proxy/management protocol. Worth its own ticket.

A group could be deleted while a reverse proxy service still referenced
it, silently breaking the service's access control: private services
list groups in `access_groups` as the peer allowlist, and SSO bearer
auth distributes tokens to `distribution_groups`.

Group deletion now runs through the same linkage validation as routes,
policies, and agent network policies: deleting a group that backs a
private service allowlist or an enabled bearer-auth distribution list
fails with a `GroupLinkError` naming the service domain. Disabled bearer
configs and stale `access_groups` on non-private services are inert and
do not block deletion.

Tests cover both linked cases in single and bulk deletion, and pin the
non-blocking cases. The test account seeds decoy services ahead of the
linked ones so the check is proven to scan the full service list.

## Describe your changes

Work on the Terraform provider (terraform-provider-netbird #177–#183)
surfaced places where the agent-network API broke its own contracts or
deviated from the conventions the rest of the management API follows,
forcing client-side workarounds.

Settings reads now follow the settings-endpoint convention: GET always
answers with a JSON object. Before bootstrap it returns the defaults
with an empty cluster/subdomain/endpoint (previously 200 with a JSON
`null` body, while the spec said 404). The settings PUT can bootstrap
the account by carrying a `cluster` — previously the row could only come
into existence through the first provider create, and a settings-first
setup was impossible; a differing cluster on a bootstrapped account is
rejected instead of silently ignored. PUT remains full-state.

The provider PUT schema promised omit-preserves semantics for several
operator-editable fields that the handler never delivered (it builds the
row from the request, like every other update handler). The schema
wording now matches the shipped full-state behavior; only the api_key
(secret) and session keys stay preserved by the manager. Identity
headers are always present in provider responses so an explicitly
cleared value round-trips as an empty string.

The Go REST client gains the full agent-network surface (catalog,
providers, policies, guardrails, budget rules, settings), including a
shim translating the legacy 200+`null` settings body from older servers
into an `IsNotFound` error.

Note for reviewers: the dashboard special-cased the `null` settings
body; it needs a small follow-up for the new defaults response (in
progress).

it resolved the parent module before — pinned by a test that compares
each built-in role's answer on every submodule against its answer on
`agent_network`. Role additions that use these submodules come

purpose per PR, small enough to review, a title tag CI already enforces.
That
  works for contributors who read CONTRIBUTING.md.

A growing share of what reaches the queue is drafted by a coding agent,
and those
tools never read it. The result is predictable and repetitive: a PR with
no ticket
behind it, an approach we would have talked the author out of in five
minutes, a
diff too large to review carefully against a daemon that runs as root, a
description longer than the code it describes, and an author who cannot
answer
questions about their own change. That is not a tooling problem. It is
what
happens when a capable tool is pointed at a repository whose
expectations nobody
  told it.

AGENTS.md states those expectations in the format agents pick up
automatically.
The first entry in its stop-and-ask list is asking the contributor for
the
discussion or issue before drafting anything, which is where most of
these PRs
go wrong. It also carries the repository map, the Go conventions we
apply in
review, the local verification commands, the PR template and title-tag
rules,

The model-allowlist guardrail was merged into one account-wide union and
enforced flat on every request, ignoring which policy/group/provider
authorised it. With multiple policies — especially a mix of guardrailed
and un-guardrailed ones — this caused:

- **false-allow**: a model allowlisted for one group/provider leaked to
any caller; and
- **false-deny**: an un-guardrailed policy (intended unrestricted) was
blocked by another policy's allowlist.

Enforcement is now policy/group-aware, mirroring `llm_limit_check`:

- **Management (`SelectPolicyForRequest`) is authoritative.** It uses
the request model (already carried in
`CheckLLMPolicyLimitsRequest.model`, previously ignored) to keep only
applicable policies whose guardrails permit the model; no
allowlist-enabled guardrail = unrestricted. Denies
`llm_policy.model_blocked` when policies govern the (provider, groups)
but none permits the model.
- **Proxy `llm_guardrail` becomes a per-provider fail-closed backstop.**
The synthesiser emits an allowlist only for providers every authorising
policy restricts; the middleware keys off the resolved provider id and
keeps unknown-model fail-closed.

With lazy connections enabled, a peer is not dialed until on-demand
traffic arrives, so the first request to a peer resolved by name (e.g.
the agent-network reverse-proxy) races — or loses to — the WireGuard
handshake. Activation was previously reactive only: a data-path packet
or an inbound signal.

This adds a proactive, DNS-time trigger. When the local resolver answers
for an overlay name, it now warms the lazy connection to the peer(s) the
answer points at and waits briefly for one to connect before returning
the response — so by the time the client sends its first packet the
tunnel is already up.

- `dns/local`: new `PeerActivator` capability + `SetPeerActivator`
setter (mirrors the existing `PeerConnectivity`/`SetPeerConnectivity`
injection). `ServeDNS` warms on the pre-filter answer, so activating a
lazily-idle peer also lets it survive the disconnected-peer filter.
Warm-up is scoped to match-only (non-authoritative) zones — the
synthesized private-service zones and user-created zones — so plain
peer-name lookups in the account's authoritative peer zone never wake
idle peers. No-op when no activator is wired (lazy off) or the answer
carries no peer IPs. Budget is `NB_DNS_LAZY_WARMUP_TIMEOUT` (default 2s,
parsed once at construction, invalid values logged); on timeout the
answer is returned anyway (never SERVFAIL).
- The resolver-facing interfaces (`PeerActivator`, `PeerConnectivity`)
take `netip.Addr` instead of string IPs; record addresses are extracted
as `netip.Addr` (v4-mapped forms unmapped) and converted to string only
at the `peer.Status` boundary.
- `SetPeerActivator` is part of the `dns.Server` interface (no-op on the
mock), so the engine wires it without a type assertion.
- `client/internal`: a small engine-side adapter (`dnsPeerActivator`)
resolves answer IPs to peers via `Status.PeerStateByIP`, activates them
through `ConnMgr.ActivatePeer` (HA fan-out included), and polls
`PeerStateByIP` until one is connected. The activation dial is tied to
the engine's long-lived context so a handshake that outlasts the
per-query wait still completes in the background. `ConnMgr.ActivatePeer`
is safe for concurrent use (the lazy manager pointer is guarded by a
dedicated RWMutex and the manager is internally synchronized), so the
DNS path never contends with network-map processing on `syncMsgMux`.

Scope is overlay-only for free: the trigger lives in the local resolver,
which only answers for NetBird-managed names; public/upstream DNS is
unaffected. Already-connected peers short-circuit, so steady-state DNS
latency is unchanged.

Maycon Santos 82fdfa84b8 [proxy] match Bedrock provider models against the normalized request model (#6773)
## Describe your changes

Native AWS Bedrock requests carry the model in the URL path as a
cross-region inference-profile id (e.g.
`us.anthropic.claude-haiku-4-5`). The request parser normalizes that to
the catalog key (`anthropic.claude-haiku-4-5`) before the router runs,
but the router matched it against the operator's registered provider
models with exact string equality. So a Bedrock provider registered with
the id Bedrock actually uses (`us.anthropic…`) never matched a
normalized request → the request denied with
`llm_policy.model_not_routable` ("no provider configured for model …").
Only a provider registered with the already-stripped catalog id worked,
which is not how Bedrock ids appear.

Fix: introduce a single shared `llm.NormalizeBedrockModel` (the same
ARN/region-prefix/version-suffix stripping the parser already does) and,
in the router's `routeClaimsModel`, normalize a **Bedrock** route's
candidate models before comparing. Now a Bedrock provider registered
with either the raw inference-profile id or the normalized catalog id
matches the request. Non-Bedrock routes keep exact matching.

Surfaced by the new native-Bedrock e2e (`WireBedrock`,
`/model/{id}/invoke`); the old e2e used the Anthropic body shape, which
never normalized either side and so hid this.

The request parser keeps its own identical normalizer for now;
de-duplicating it onto `llm.NormalizeBedrockModel` is a trivial
follow-up.

for providers whose model travels in the URL/path rather than the JSON

`evaluateAllowlist` returned allow whenever the request model was absent
from the metadata bag (`middleware.go`, `if !modelPresent { return nil
}`). The model is stamped upstream by `llm_request_parser`; for
body-routed providers (OpenAI/Anthropic) it comes from the JSON body,
but for path-routed providers the model is recovered only when the
request matches a recognized path shape (Bedrock
`/model/{id}/{invoke|converse|...}`, Vertex
`/v1/projects/.../publishers/.../models/...`). Any shape the parser did
not recognize reached the guardrail with no model and was allowed
regardless of the allowlist.

Fix (provider-agnostic): **fail closed**. When an allowlist is
configured and the model cannot be determined (absent or empty), the
request is denied `403` with a distinct `llm_policy.model_unknown`
reason. This closes the bypass for Bedrock, Vertex, and any future
URL-routed provider in one place. When no allowlist is configured,
behavior is unchanged.

The model allowlist is enforced solely in the proxy `llm_guardrail`;
management's `CheckLLMPolicyLimits` handles only token/budget caps, so
no management change is required.

Maycon Santos 831325d6e2 [management] require dashboard_features.agent_network when enabling agent_network_only (#6750)
Adds a settings constraint: enabling `agent_network_only` requires `dashboard_features.agent_network` to be `true` in the same account update. Without the Agent Network menu flag, a focused account that later turns the focused view off would lose access to the Agent Network menu entirely, so the two must be set together.

The check runs in `updateAccountRequestSettings` against the parsed request state: if the resulting settings have `agent_network_only == true` but `dashboard_features.agent_network` is not `true`, the update is rejected with `status.InvalidArgument` (HTTP 422) before anything is persisted.

The OpenAPI field descriptions for `agent_network_only` and `dashboard_features.agent_network` document the requirement. Only the descriptions changed — `required` and the schema `$ref` are untouched — and `types.gen.go` was regenerated from the spec (diff is the two comment lines).

* [client] Enable launch-on-login by default on fresh GUI installs

On the first interactive run the GUI persists the autostartInitialized
marker before any enable attempt, then enables autostart only when the
platform supports it, MDM policy does not disable it, the process was not
relaunched by an installer/updater (--post-update), and the installer's
fresh-install breadcrumb is present. Upgrading users have no breadcrumb,
so an update can never write login items, and a user's disable in
Settings is never overridden.

* [release] Write fresh-install breadcrumb from installers

Installers write a .fresh-install breadcrumb on fresh installs only and
delete stale breadcrumbs on upgrade; none of them writes login items or
registry Run keys. Windows NSIS detects upgrades via the uninstall
registry entry or an existing installed executable; the macOS pkg via the
previous pkgutil receipt; Linux deb/rpm via the standard postinstall
arguments. Post-update GUI relaunches (macOS open, Linux
ui-post-install.sh) pass --post-update so the first-run autostart default

The real Windows installer does uninstall-then-install and deletes
$INSTDIR, so a breadcrumb written there cannot survive or discriminate
a fresh install from an upgrade. Restore the three installer files to
their main versions; no installer or updater writes an autostart entry.

* Detect fresh install from NetBird footprint instead of installer breadcrumb

Replace the installer-written breadcrumb discriminator with a GUI-side
check. netbirdFootprintExists inspects the daemon config/state files
(default.json, legacy config.json, state.json) under profilemanager's
default config dir; combined with whether the UI preferences file already
existed, this tells a genuinely fresh machine from an existing or
upgrading user. Only the signed GUI, via Wails, ever enables
launch-on-login, and a user's later manual disable is never overridden.
The preferences store now exposes ExistedAtLoad and the --post-update
flag is dropped.

* Update tests for footprint-based autostart default

Table tests for shouldEnableAutostartDefault now cover supported,

Maycon Santos 8e02154bf5 [client] Add SSO login flow timing instrumentation (#6717)
Users reported long delays between finishing browser authentication and
the client connecting. Logs could not attribute the time: the PKCE and
device flows were silent between issuing the auth URL and returning the
token, and nothing recorded when the GUI issued the Up request after
WaitSSOLogin completed.

Add log lines covering the full chain: PKCE callback arrival and token
exchange duration, device-flow polling and approval timing, GUI-side
brackets around WaitSSOLogin and Up, daemon-side Up arrival and
WaitSSOLogin return, and a frontend stall detector that reports when
webview timers were suspended (macOS App Nap / hidden-window
throttling), which delays the WaitSSOLogin-to-Up handoff.

- provider: add SkipTLSVerification (persisted via AutoMigrate) with
  request/response mapping (nil on update preserves, explicit false clears).
- openapi: skip_tls_verification on the provider request + response; types
  regenerated.
- synthesizer: carry the flag into the llm_router route config so it reaches
  the proxy.
- proxy: llm_router sets it on the UpstreamRewrite mutation, and the reverse
  proxy applies roundtrip.WithSkipTLSVerify per selected route when forwarding
  upstream (the router dials per provider, so a per-target flag alone wouldn't
  cover it).
- tests: synthesizer route config carries the flag, router rewrite propagates
  it, and the request/response round-trip incl. update semantics.

Add a self-signed HTTPS upstream (nginx) to the harness and a test that
provisions two providers on that same upstream — one with
skip_tls_verification=true, one false — behind one proxy + client. The
skip=true provider's chat reaches the upstream (200); the skip=false
provider's fails the TLS handshake (5xx). Same upstream, opposite outcome,
which proves the flag is honoured per provider (a single target-level flag
could not, since all of an account's providers share one synthesised
target).

* [e2e] WaitProxyPeer: require >=1 connected peer, not exact 1/1

Each proxy container registers a fresh WireGuard key and its peer is not
removed on teardown, so proxy peers from earlier tests linger in the
account as disconnected. WaitProxyPeer matched the exact string
"1/1 Connected", which failed once a second proxy-using test ran in the
same package (status "1/2"). Parse the "Peers count: X/Y Connected" line
and wait for X>=1 instead: only the live proxy can be connected, and the
caller's subsequent chat is the real end-to-end assertion. Fixes the CI
failure of TestProviderSkipTLSVerification (runs after TestProvidersMatrix).

TestChatCompletionThroughProxy provisions provider+policy+group+setup key,
runs proxy+client, drives an OpenAI chat-completion through the tunnel, and
asserts a 200 plus the ingested access-log row. Requires OPENAI_TOKEN
(skips otherwise). The provider must be created with enabled=true explicitly
— the create default is false despite the API doc.

* [e2e] Run the live chat scenario across a provider matrix

Replace the single-provider chat test with a data-driven matrix that runs
the same scenario through every provider whose credentials are present in
the environment (keys/URLs sourced from ~/.llm-keys locally, Actions
secrets in CI):

- OpenAI (chat), Anthropic (messages), Vercel, OpenRouter, Cloudflare
  (OpenAI-compatible gateways), and Bedrock (path-routed, bearer, via the
  messages shape) — covering both wire shapes and the gateway routing.
- all providers are created enabled with a unique model string so the
  proxy's connect-time snapshot carries them all and model->provider
  routing is unambiguous (provider toggles after connect don't reconcile
  to a connected proxy).
- the client supports both wire shapes (/v1/chat/completions and
  /v1/messages); Cloudflare gets the openai provider segment appended to
  its gateway URL.

Each provider must return 200 through the tunnel and produce an ingested
access-log row. Vertex is intentionally excluded from the uniform matrix:
it needs a bespoke rawPredict request shape rather than the shared
chat/messages path, so it warrants a dedicated scenario.

* [ci] Add manual workflow for the agent-network e2e suite

The e2e suite (build tag `e2e`) stands up the combined server + proxy +
client in Docker and drives live chat-completions, so it is slow and needs
provider credentials. Gate it out of normal CI (it already is, via the
build tag) and run it on demand via workflow_dispatch. Provider scenarios
skip when their secret is unset, so it degrades gracefully.

* [e2e] Add Vertex to the provider matrix; run e2e on ubuntu-latest

Vertex (Anthropic-on-Vertex) doesn't share the chat/messages wire shapes:
the model travels in a rawPredict path and the proxy mints the service
account's OAuth token. Add a Vertex client method that posts
/v1/projects/<project>/locations/<region>/publishers/anthropic/models/<model>:rawPredict
with the Vertex anthropic_version body, and wire it into the matrix as a
path-routed provider (created without a models array). It is keyed off

"global", model to a pinned claude snapshot, both overridable).

cert watcher failed with "open /certs/tls.crt: permission denied" and the
container exited. Widen the cert dir to 0755 and write the throwaway key
0644 so the proxy uid can read the bind-mounted material.

* [e2e] Build images from source by default instead of pulling rc.2

The agent-network code under test lives in this branch, so the e2e should
exercise it rather than a frozen published release. Flip the harness
default: combined/proxy/client are now built from their in-repo
Dockerfiles (combined/Dockerfile.multistage, proxy/Dockerfile.multistage,
e2e/harness/Dockerfile.client) under local tags. Pulling a published image
stays available by setting NB_E2E_*_IMAGE to a registry reference.

Builds now go through buildx --load so the Dockerfile cache mounts are
honored and the result is loaded for testcontainers. The CI workflow adds
a container-driver builder and a local layer cache (NB_E2E_BUILDX_CACHE)
persisted via actions/cache, which caches the base/apt/dep-download layers
across runs. The Go compile still re-runs each time, as BuildKit mount
caches cannot be exported to the GitHub cache.

  catalog's create and field round-trip. Create is offline, so it stays fast
  and burns no provider quota; falls back to a synthetic OpenAI provider when
  no keys are set.
- TestProvidersMatrix attaches a token limit (high caps, 60s window) to its
  policy, which switches on usage metering, and asserts consumption rows are
  recorded with positive token counts after the live traffic. Consumption is
  account-scoped (keyed by source group / user and window, not per provider),
  so the assertion is aggregate.
- TestProviderValidation gains invalid-upstream and blank-name cases. Create
  validation is uniform across catalogs (no per-provider required-field rules),
  so per-provider rejection cases would be redundant.

* [e2e] Assert session id propagates per provider

Each matrix request now sends a unique session id as the universal
x-session-id header and asserts it round-trips into that provider's
access-log row. This guards the session-grouping contract end to end for
every provider (header extraction runs in llm_request_parser ahead of the
parser-specific body extraction, so it is provider-agnostic).

* [e2e] Drop accidentally committed sync-phases dashboard

netbird-sync-phases.json was swept into the Pillar 1 commit by a broad
git add; it belongs to the unrelated sync-phases metrics work, not this
e2e harness. Remove it from the branch so the PR diff is scoped to the
e2e changes.

The netbird_sync_phase measurement spec in metrics ingest was swept into
the Pillar 1 commit; it belongs to the unrelated sync-phases metrics work,

peers can carry traffic, so IdentityForIP and the DNS disconnected-peer
filter now treat them as unknown, same as foreign IPs.

Skip the DNS answer filter for single-record responses; dropping the
only answer was always restored by the empty-answer escape hatch, so
the fast path is behavior-neutral.

* Ensure `ipToKey` entries are only removed if they match the peer being deleted, preventing accidental removal of unrelated mappings.

private services on a custom domain didn't resolve on clients — the synthesized DNS zone was anchored to the cluster, and the account's custom domains weren't even
  loaded.

- account.go — SynthesizePrivateServiceZones now keys zones by a resolved apex (privateServiceDomainZone): cluster suffix → registered account.Domains (filtered by matching
  TargetCluster, longest wins) → skip if none. One zone per apex; custom-domain services group under their registered domain.
- sql_store.go — GetAccount now loads account.Domains on both loaders (gorm Preload("Domains") + pgx goroutine via ListCustomDomains; errChan buffer bumped 12→16). This was
  the reason the deploy didn't work — the relation was empty in prod.
- Tests — custom-domain zone synthesis cases (apex resolution, free+custom separation, sibling collapse, cluster mismatch, mixed cluster/custom/public) + GetAccount

* fix(proxy): gate tunnel-peer fast-path on inbound listener marker

forwardWithTunnelPeer previously accepted any RFC1918 / ULA / CGNAT
source IP, so a public client whose address happened to fall in those
ranges could bypass the configured operator auth scheme by colliding
with a known tunnel IP. The fast-path is now gated on
TunnelLookupFromContext(r.Context()) being present — that context value
is attached only by the per-account inbound (overlay) listener, so the
host-facing listener never enters this branch.

Tests updated to reflect the new requirement: requests that don't
carry the inbound marker now fall through to the regular auth flow.

* fix(proxy): harden inbound listener resource + startup-ctx handling

Three correctness fixes on the per-account inbound path, with tests:

- Close the logrus ErrorLog PipeWriter on tearDown. WriterLevel hands
  back an *io.PipeWriter backed by a pipe + scanner goroutine that the
  caller owns; the two writers per account (https + plain) were never
  closed, leaking the pipe and goroutine on every teardown.
- Run the post-Start hooks on context.Background(). runClientStartup
  is launched in a goroutine from AddPeer and was inheriting the
  caller's request-scoped ctx, so a cancelled request could abort the
  inbound bring-up or fail the management status notification. The
  tail is split into notifyClientReady so the contract is testable.

Tests cover the PipeWriter close behaviour and assert the readyHandler
+ NotifyStatus calls receive a non-cancelled background context.

* feat(proxy): short-circuit peer-own-target loops with 421

When a peer that hosts the target of a private service dials its own
service URL the request was being looped through the proxy and back
over WireGuard to the same peer — twice the WG round-trip for no
benefit, with no signal to the caller that something was wrong.

Add isSelfTargetLoop to ReverseProxy.ServeHTTP: when the request
arrived on the per-account overlay listener (IsOverlayOrigin) and the
source tunnel IP matches the target host, refuse the request with 421
Misdirected Request and a body pointing the operator at the backend
directly.

The gate is scoped to overlay origin so requests on the public
listener that happen to share a source IP with the target host are
forwarded normally.

* fix(management): private-service validation + tunnel-IP lookup semantics

- Require an explicit port for L4 cluster targets. validateL4Target
  exempted TargetTypeCluster from the port check, but buildPathMappings
  serializes every L4 target via net.JoinHostPort(host, port) — port=0
  shipped a ":0" upstream. Cluster targets use the same Host/Port
  fields, so the same requirement applies.
- GetPeerByIP returns NotFound on a tunnel-IP miss instead of mapping
  every error to Internal. The proxy's ValidateTunnelPeer probes IPs
  that legitimately aren't in the roster; the miss is expected and now
  distinguishable from a real store failure.
- Thread ctx into getClusterCapability's gorm query so a cancelled
  request doesn't keep the store busy.

Tests updated for the L4-cluster port requirement and the GetPeerByIP
NotFound path.

* fix(client): include offlinePeers in PeerStateByIP lookup

ReplaceOfflinePeers moves peers into d.offlinePeers but PeerStateByIP
only scanned d.peers. Callers (the local DNS filter via
localPeerConnectivity, embed.Client.IdentityForIP used by the
proxy's tunnel-peer validator) were treating known-but-offline peers
as unknown, which:

- causes the DNS filter to keep returning records pointing at peers
  that have no live tunnel, AND
- makes the proxy's local-roster check deny a request from such a
  peer rather than letting the cached management RPC carry the
  authorisation decision.

Search both slices in PeerStateByIP. Adds a unit test for the IPv4
and IPv6 offline-match paths.

* fix(rest): reject empty Delete path params in reverse-proxy clients

ReverseProxyClustersAPI.Delete and ReverseProxyTokensAPI.Delete passed
the path parameter into url.PathEscape without an empty check.
PathEscape("") returns "" which collapses the request onto the
collection endpoint ("/api/reverse-proxies/clusters/" /
"/api/reverse-proxies/proxy-tokens/"), so a caller bug delete with no
id reached a routable URL with surprising semantics (typically 405).

Short-circuit with a typed error before the request is built. Tests
mount a handler on the collection path that fails the test if hit, so
the regression is impossible to reintroduce silently.

* chore(api,ci,docs,test): private-service schema, proto-check, fixups

Non-functional cleanups and contract/CI hardening around the
private-service work:

API schema (openapi.yml):
- Require a non-empty access_groups and mode=http when private=true,
  on both Service and ServiceRequest, mirroring
  validatePrivateRequirements. mode stays optional-but-constrained
  (empty defaults to http server-side), matching runtime.

CI (proto-version-check.yml):
- Cover renamed .pb.go files (read base via previous_filename).
- Match protoc-gen-go-grpc version headers (optional "- " prefix and
  -gen-go-grpc suffix) so grpc-generated files are in scope.

Docs / comments:
- Reword Config field docs to say defaults are applied at Server.Start
  (initDefaults), not New.
- Rename the obsolete --private-inbound flag to --private across
  comments and the proto doc.

Pre-existing test fixups surfaced by review:
- Repair the integration-tagged validate_session_test.go (SignToken
  signature growth + new Manager interface methods).
- Fix the CI-skip boolean precedence so Windows isn't skipped
  unconditionally.
- Guard the router.HTTPListener type assertion with comma-ok.

* fix(proxy): background ctx for already-started AddPeer notification

The earlier ctx fix covered the async runClientStartup path but missed
the synchronous branch: when a service is added to an already-started
client, AddPeer called NotifyStatus with the caller's request-scoped
ctx. A cancelled request/stream could drop the connected notification
to management. Use context.Background() here too, matching
notifyClientReady.

Extends TestNetBird_AddPeer_ExistingStartedClient_NotifiesStatus to
pass a pre-cancelled caller ctx and assert the notification still ran
on a non-cancelled context.

Maycon Santos 7aebdd69dd [management, client, proxy] add expose NetBird-only services over tunnel peers (#6226)
Adds a new "private" service mode for the reverse proxy: services reachable exclusively over the embedded WireGuard tunnel, gated by per-peer group membership instead of operator auth schemes.

Wire contract
- ProxyMapping.private (field 13): the proxy MUST call ValidateTunnelPeer and fail closed; operator schemes are bypassed.
- ProxyCapabilities.private (4) + supports_private_service (5): capability gate. Management never streams private mappings to proxies that don't claim the capability; the broadcast path applies the same filter via filterMappingsForProxy.
- ValidateTunnelPeer RPC: resolves an inbound tunnel IP to a peer, checks the peer's groups against service.AccessGroups, and mints a session JWT on success. checkPeerGroupAccess fails closed when a private service has empty AccessGroups.
- ValidateSession/ValidateTunnelPeer responses now carry peer_group_ids + peer_group_names so the proxy can authorise policy-aware middlewares without an extra management round-trip.
- ProxyInboundListener + SendStatusUpdate.inbound_listener: per-account inbound listener state surfaced to dashboards.
- PathTargetOptions.direct_upstream (11): bypass the embedded NetBird client and dial the target via the proxy host's network stack for upstreams reachable without WireGuard.

Data model
- Service.Private (bool) + Service.AccessGroups ([]string, JSON- serialised). Validate() rejects bearer auth on private services. Copy() deep-copies AccessGroups. pgx getServices loads the columns.
- DomainConfig.Private threaded into the proxy auth middleware. Request handler routes private services through forwardWithTunnelPeer and returns 403 on validation failure.
- Account-level SynthesizePrivateServiceZones (synthetic DNS) and injectPrivateServicePolicies (synthetic ACL) gate on len(svc.AccessGroups) > 0.

Proxy
- /netbird proxy --private (embedded mode) flag; Config.Private in proxy/lifecycle.go.
- Per-account inbound listener (proxy/inbound.go) binding HTTP/HTTPS on the embedded NetBird client's WireGuard tunnel netstack.
- proxy/internal/auth/tunnel_cache: ValidateTunnelPeer response cache with single-flight de-duplication and per-account eviction.
- Local peerstore short-circuit: when the inbound IP isn't in the account roster, deny fast without an RPC.
- proxy/server.go reports SupportsPrivateService=true and redacts the full ProxyMapping JSON from info logs (auth_token + header-auth hashed values now only at debug level).

Identity forwarding
- ValidateSessionJWT returns user_id, email, method, groups, group_names. sessionkey.Claims carries Email + Groups + GroupNames so the proxy can stamp identity onto upstream requests without an extra management round-trip on every cookie-bearing request.
- CapturedData carries userEmail / userGroups / userGroupNames; the proxy stamps X-NetBird-User and X-NetBird-Groups on r.Out from the authenticated identity (strips client-supplied values first to prevent spoofing).
- AccessLog.UserGroups: access-log enrichment captures the user's group memberships at write time so the dashboard can render group context without reverse-resolving stale memberships.

OpenAPI/dashboard surface
- ReverseProxyService gains private + access_groups; ReverseProxyCluster gains private + supports_private. ReverseProxyTarget target_type enum gains "cluster". ServiceTargetOptions gains direct_upstream. ProxyAccessLog gains user_groups.

Maycon Santos d250f92c43 feat(reverse-proxy): clusters API surfaces type, online status, and capability flags (#6148)
The cluster listing now answers three questions in one round-trip
instead of forcing the dashboard to cross-reference the domains API:
which clusters can this account see, are they currently up, and what
do they support. The ProxyCluster wire type drops the boolean
self_hosted in favour of a `type` enum (`account` / `shared`) plus
explicit `online`, `supports_custom_ports`, `require_subdomain`, and
`supports_crowdsec` fields.

Store query reworked so offline clusters still appear (no last_seen
WHERE), with online and connected_proxies both derived from the
existing 2-min active window via portable CASE expressions; the
1-hour heartbeat reaper still removes long-stale rows. Service
manager enriches each cluster with the capability flags via the
existing per-cluster lookups (CapabilityProvider now also exposes
ClusterSupportsCrowdSec).

GetActiveClusterAddresses* keep their tight 2-min filter so service
routing and domain enumeration aren't pulled into the wider window.

The hard cut removes self_hosted from the response — the dashboard is
the only consumer and is updated in the matching PR; no transitional
field is shipped.

Adds a cross-engine regression test asserting offline clusters
surface, connected_proxies counts only fresh proxies, and
account-scoped BYOP clusters never leak across accounts.

The session-fenced MarkPeerConnected / MarkPeerDisconnected path and
the ephemeral peer cleanup loop both run silently today: when fencing
rejects a stale stream, when a cleanup tick deletes peers, or when a
batch delete fails, we have no operational signal beyond log lines.

Add OpenTelemetry counters and a histogram so the same SLO-style
dashboards that already exist for the network-map controller can cover
peer connect/disconnect and ephemeral cleanup too.

All new attributes are bounded enums: operation in {connect,disconnect}
and outcome in {applied,stale,error,peer_not_found}. No account, peer,
or user ID is ever written as a metric label — total cardinality is
fixed at compile time (8 counter series, 2 histogram series, 4 unlabeled
ephemeral series).

Metric methods are nil-receiver safe so test composition that doesn't
wire telemetry (the bulk of the existing tests) works unchanged. The
ephemeral manager exposes a SetMetrics setter rather than taking the
collector through its constructor, keeping the constructor signature
stable across all test call sites.

* [management] Add OpenTelemetry metrics for ephemeral peer cleanup

Introduce counters for tracking ephemeral peer cleanup, including peers pending deletion, cleanup runs, successful deletions, and failed batches. Metrics are nil-receiver safe to ensure compatibility with test setups without telemetry.

The connect/disconnect path used a best-effort LastSeen-after-streamStart
comparison to decide whether a status update should land. Under contention
— a re-sync arriving while the previous stream's disconnect was still in
flight, or two management replicas seeing the same peer at once — the
check was a read-then-decide-then-write window: any UPDATE in between
caused the wrong row to be written. The Go-side time.Now() that fed the
comparison also drifted under lock contention, since it was captured
seconds before the write actually committed.

Replace it with an integer-nanosecond fencing token stored alongside the
status. Every gRPC sync stream uses its open time (UnixNano) as its token.
Connects only land when the incoming token is strictly greater than the
stored one; disconnects only land when the incoming token equals the
stored one (i.e. we're the stream that owns the current session). Both
are single optimistic-locked UPDATEs — no read-then-write, no transaction
wrapper.

LastSeen is now written by the database itself (CURRENT_TIMESTAMP). The
caller never supplies it, so the value always reflects the real moment
of the UPDATE rather than the moment the caller queued the work — which
was already off by minutes under heavy lock contention.

Side effects (geo lookup, peer-login-expiration scheduling, network-map
fan-out) are explicitly documented as running after the fence UPDATE
commits, never inside it. Geo also skips the update when realIP equals
the stored ConnectionIP, dropping a redundant SavePeerLocation call on
same-IP reconnects.

Tests cover the three semantic cases (matched disconnect lands, stale
disconnect dropped, stale connect dropped) plus a 16-goroutine race test
that asserts the highest token always wins.

- Add GetSelectedClientRoutes() to the route manager that filters through FilterSelectedExitNodes, returning only active routes instead of all management routes              
  - Use GetSelectedClientRoutes() in the DNS route checker so deselected exit nodes' 0.0.0.0/0 no longer matches upstream DNS IPs — this prevented the resolver from switching
  away from the utun-bound socket after exit node deselection                                                                                                                   
  - Initialize iOS DNS server with host DNS fallback addresses (1.1.1.1:53, 1.0.0.1:53) and a permanent root zone handler, matching Android's behavior — without this, unmatched
   DNS queries arriving via the 0.0.0.0/0 tunnel route had no handler and were silently dropped

- DNS resolution broke after deselecting an exit node because the route checker used all client routes (including deselected ones) to decide how to forward upstream DNS
  queries
  - Added GetSelectedClientRoutes() to the route manager that filters out deselected exit nodes, and switched the DNS route checker to use it
  - Confirmed fix via device testing: after deselecting exit node, DNS queries now correctly use a regular network socket instead of binding to the utun interface

Maycon Santos 15aa6bae1b [client] Fix exit node menu not refreshing on Windows (#5553)
* [client] Fix exit node menu not refreshing on Windows

TrayOpenedCh is not implemented in the systray library on Windows,
so exit nodes were never refreshed after the initial connect. Combined
with the management sync not having populated routes yet when the
Connected status fires, this caused the exit node menu to remain empty
permanently after disconnect/reconnect cycles.
Add a background poller on Windows that refreshes exit nodes while
connected, with fast initial polling to catch routes from management
sync followed by a steady 10s interval. On macOS/Linux, TrayOpenedCh
continues to handle refreshes on each tray open.
Also fix a data race on connectClient assignment in the server's connect()
method and add nil checks in CleanState/DeleteState to prevent panics
when connectClient is nil.

Maycon Santos 85451ab4cd [management] Add stable domain resolution for combined server (#5515)
The combined server was using the hostname from exposedAddress for both
singleAccountModeDomain and dnsDomain, causing fresh installs to get
the wrong domain and existing installs to break if the config changed.
 Add resolveDomains() to BaseServer that reads domain from the store:
  - Fresh install (0 accounts): uses "netbird.selfhosted" default
  - Existing install: reads persisted domain from the account in DB
  - Store errors: falls back to default safely

The combined server opts in via AutoResolveDomains flag, while the
 standalone management server is unaffected.

Maycon Santos 8e7b016be2 [management] Replace in-memory expose tracker with SQL-backed operations (#5494)
The expose tracker used sync.Map for in-memory TTL tracking of active expose sessions, which broke and lost all sessions on restart.

Replace with SQL-backed operations that reuse the existing meta_last_renewed_at column:

- Add store methods: RenewEphemeralService, GetExpiredEphemeralServices, CountEphemeralServicesByPeer, EphemeralServiceExists
- Move duplicate/limit checks inside a transaction with row-level locking (SELECT ... FOR UPDATE) to prevent concurrent bypass
- Reaper re-checks expiry under row lock to avoid deleting a just-renewed service and prevent duplicate event emission 
- Add composite index on (source, source_peer) for efficient queries
- Batch-limit and column-select the reaper query to avoid DB/GC spikes
- Filter out malformed rows with empty source_peer
